Anna Dantchev Band – Balkan storytellers

The sound of the band, founded 2013, is a harmonic and beautiful, yet quite potent blend of different musical styles. All the old melodies and stories which Anna has inherited from her father, grandmother and Bulgarian mastersingers get reborn with a sound stemming from the urban multicultural Helsinki of today. Besides the authentic Bulgarian singing tradition, the band’s musicians offer musical spices from blues, soul, post-rock and desert rhythms.

In 2013, the band was awarded “The best band” -prize at the Ourvision singing contest at the Savoy-theatre. The group has also performed at Lavaklubi and Caisa cultural centre. The latest gig was at Teatteri Kallio, Helsinki on 15th October. And next one will be at Arkadia International Bookshop 29.11.
