Tuesday 24.5. at 6pm: Talk on Lumedemokratia and other topics with author Taneli Heikka

Dear friend of Arkadia, You are heartily invited to a talk on Lumedemokratia (Quasi-Democracy, 2008) and other topics with author Taneli Heikka on Tuesday 24.5 at 6pm. www.taneliheikka.com “ Lumedemokratia (Quasi-Democracy, 2008) by Katja Boxberg and Taneli Heikka, sparked a vivid debate about the nature of Finnish society, from recent history to the present day. It condemns the economic policy pursued during the great depression of the 1990’s and Finland’s continued failure to revamp its suffocatingly rigid labour market structures.” http://www.toivoajatuspaja.fi/julkaisut/quasi-democracy/   The debate will be in Finnish but questions can be asked in English. You are strongly encouraged to join the discussion! Warm regards, Ian www.arkadiabookshop.fi Entrance is free and green tea will be offered. A donation of €2 (or more!) to fund the event is suggested and would be most welcome! Taneli is a media and communications entrepreneur, CEO of Avaja Open. He is co-author of award-winning and widely debated book Lumedemokratia (2009) on Finnish political culture with Katja Boxberg. His new book Uusi kultakausi (with Aitamurto, Kilpinen and Posio) investigates the impact of social media to society and economy. Taneli is a regular commentator on media issues at the Press Club on Finnish national television. He stepped down as Head of Helsinki bureau for five leading regional newspapers and a business daily in Finland in 2010. He is former India correspondent to newspaper Aamulehti.
