I have an address under my name “Ian Bourgeot”and I would gladly become your friend Maya Egashira The Japanese violinist and violist Maya Egashira has performed as soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster in Japan, USA, Finland, Hungary and other European countries. Her most notable performances include chamber music concerts in ensembles with the participation of renowned musicians such as Mikhail Kopelman, Massimo Quarta, Teemu Kupiainen, Hanna Kinnunen, Seeli Toivio, and Erkki Lahesmaa. She frequently collaborates with pianists such as Valeria Resjan and Tuomas Turriago. Maya has performed as well with Ralf Gothóni for President Matti Ahtisaari. Her interest in chamber music, both as violinist and violist, extends over the regular repertoire to the contemporary era and to more unusual combinations of instruments. Maya Egashira has an extensive experience as orchestral musician. Since 2008, she plays in the Sinfonia Lahti, while earlier she was leader in the Kuopio City Orchestra. Maya has been exceptionally more than once concertmaster of the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, most notably in the 125th Anniversary concert in 2007 under Leif Segerstam and in the 2008 USA tour under Esa-Pekka Salonen. Furthemore, she holds the concertmaster chair in the conducting class of the Academy since 2006 and even after her graduation. Maya Egashira holds a Master of Music degree (2008, highest honors) from the Sibelius Academy, while prior to her moving to Finland she studied in the Aichi University of Arts (Bachelor of Music 2002, honor prizes). Among her violin teachers belong Aleksandre Vinnitski, Michael Vaiman, and Yoko Seto. Over her study years, Maya has participated in numerous violin, viola, and chamber music master-classes with Shlomo Mintz, György Pauk, Mikhail Kopelman, Ralf Gothóni, Ron Ephrat, Pavel Vernikov. Akiko Yokoyama After studying at the Toho Gakuen school of music in Tokyo, Akiko came to Finland and studied at the Sibelius Academy with Juhani Lagerspetz and Ilmo Ranta. She received the 3rd prize at the Jväskylä Chamber Music Competition in 2004 and played with the AMIKO orchestra as a soloist in 2006. Akiko graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 2007, and now teaches at the Ullan-Piano Koulu.
