Ayane Matsuura was born in Tokushima, Japan. She started taking piano lessons at the age of five. From 2007 she studied in the class of Prof. Yuko Sekine and Mr. Katsunori Ishii at the Tokyo College of Music, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2011.

While studying there, Prof. Erik T. Tawaststjerna from Sibelius Academy visited the school and after a fruitful masterclass, Matsuura decided that she wanted to study with Tawaststjerna full-time.
She started studying at the Sibelius Academy under Prof. Tawaststjerna’s tuition in 2011 and graduated in June 2017.

After graduating from the school, Matsuura was offered a substitution as a chamber pianist in Sibelius Academy, so her adventures at the campus still continue.
