Dear friend of Arkadia,

You are invited to ‘No Man’s Land’, an installation by Miriam Bourgeot and Ella Jaakkola on Friday 21.12. from 3pm to 6.30pm at Arkadia (Nervanderinkatu 11).

The installation examines the possibilities of telling a story or depicting a character through physical spaces instead of text or image. The installation has been inspired by various places, encountered by Bourgeot and Jaakkola around the world, which seemed to them forgotten, abandoned, or frozen in time.

No Man’s Land -installaatio on saanut alkunsa paikoista ympäri maailmaa, jotka eläväisen ympäristön keskellä vaikuttavat unohdetuilta, jätetyiltä tai muuten pysähtyneiltä. Miriam Bourgeot ja Ella Jaakkola tutkivat, miten tiettyyn tilaan voi sitoa tarinan tai henkilökuvan käyttäen kerronnan keinona aisteja ja niiden herättämiä mielikuvia tekstin sijaan.
