Friday 26.8 at 6pm: It’s the Night of the Arts in Helsinki, welcome to music and books!
Dear friend of Arkadia,
Friday 26th August is the Night of the Arts in Helsinki!
The bookshop will be part of it and we’ll be open from noon to midnight. You are heartily welcome to visit and attend the shows!
Here is the programme :
7:15 Sans Provinces
8:15 Rebecca Clamp
( don’t hesitate to come early to enjoy the fantastic Arkadia Autumn sale and to get a seat!)
7:15 Sans Provinces
Sans Provinces is French-Finnish duo Nathalie Aubret (vocals) and Jugi Kaartinen (piano). Their acoustic journeys follow the meanders of a cinematic piano & delicate voice. They move somewhere between minimal piano music, chanson française, and singer-songwriter vulnerability, drawing influences from the likes of Yann Tiersen, Clint Mansell, Antony & the Johnsons etc. The duo formed in Helsinki in the autumn 2010. While quietly performing in the nooks and crannies of the city, Nathalie & Jugi are working on new material and getting ready to record their first batch of songs.

8:15 Rebecca Clamp
Kallio‘s answer to Joni Mitchell, Rebecca Clamp returns to the bookshop for Night of the Arts – her third year running. Clamp‘s new album ‘Key to the City’ (Folkwit Records, UK), a love letter to Helsinki, has had great reviews in England and Finland, and following recent concerts in New York she has secured distribution in the US under Radio Khartoum. Here is a recent interview in Rumba: http://www.rumba.fi/kun-brittilaulajatar-hurahtaa-kallioon-rebecca-clamp-loysi-toisen-kotinsa-helsingista-25769/
