Guy Collins Born on the southern tip of Africa, Guy has been playing guitar for almost 25 years. His interest really took off when he was 15 on a warm day. The long distance sounds from somewhere in the American south of Howlin’ Wolf on Highway 49 beamed into the living room. Subsequently, Guy has become interested in all roots and folk musics and the connection to the soul experiences to which music connects every human being. While rock and blues music has played a big part in his musical education, he has developed an interest in all improvised music, especially the aspect of making music with people who do not consider themselves musicians. Are we all able to tap into the music behind the world? Afrikan eteläkärjessä syntynyt Guy on soittanut kitaraa jo lähes 25 vuotta. Hänen kiinnostuksensa musiikkiin lähti liikkeelle kun hän oli viidentoista vanha, lämpimänä päivänä. Pitkän matkan päästä, jostain Yhdysvaltojen etelästä Howlin ‘Wolf ja valtatie 49 säteilivät hänen olohuoneeseensa. Myöhemmin Guy on kiinnostunut kaikesta roots- ja folkmusiikista ja sisäisistä kokemuksista, joihin musiikki yhdistää jokaisen ihmisen. Vaikka rock-ja blues-musiikki on ollut iso osa hänen musiikillista koulutustaan, hän on kehittänyt mielenkiinnon kaikkea improvisoitua musiikkia kohtaan. Mikael H & The Siberians will release their third album, “The president of Venice Beach”, in the Autumn 2011. In 2004 they released their debut album, “Sounds like Siberia, ” which again was followed by “Back from Serbia” in 2006. Mikael and his band haven’t spend the last five years collecting election money, instead they have been employed by many projects. Most active of these have been Kaspar, where Mikael sings and co-writes with John McGregor. In most cases, the band consists of the following persons: Mikael Hakkarainen, Tuomas Hakkarainen, James Lampela and Risto Antero Tiittula. Mikael H & The Siberians on julkaisemassa syksyllä kolmannen albuminsa, “The President of Venice Beach”, Helmi Levyjen kautta. Vuonna 2004 julkaistiin debyyttilevy, “Sounds like Siberia”, jolle jatkoa seurasi 2006 “Back from Serbia” -levyn muodossa. Viimeistä viittä vuotta ei Mikael Hakkarainen, eikä hänen yhtyeensä The Siberians, ole kuitenkaan viettänyt vaalirahoja keräillen, vaan työllistämässä ovat olleet monet projektit. Aktiivisimpana näistä on Kaspar, jossa Mikael laulaa ja kirjoittaa yhdessä John McGregorin kanssa. Työtä soittajana on riittänyt myös mm. Astrid Swanin, etelä-afrikkalaisen Guy Collinsin sekä australialaisen Gosia Winterin kanssa. Useimmiten yhtye koostuu seuraavista henkilöistä: Mikael Hakkarainen, Tuomas Hakkarainen, Jaakko Lampela and Risto Antero Tiittula.
