Monday 30.1 at 6pm: ´Supporting sustainable water resources in developing countries´ by Juha Sarkkula

Dear friend of Arkadia, You are heartily invited to ´Supporting sustainable water resources in developing countries’ by Juha Sarkkula on Monday 30.1at 6pm. Juha’s talk will mainly touch the experiences and efforts relating to a cluster of projects done for the Mekong River Commission (MRC), funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The MRC is an inter-governmental body of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, devoted to promoting sustainable development in the Mekong Basin. The principal question raised is: is it possible to help these countries in this effort? The talk will be in English. Welcome all. Warm regards, Ian www.arkadiabookshop.fiEntrance is free and green tea will be offered. A donation of €2 (or more!) to fund the event is suggested and would be most welcome. Juha Sarkkula is a researcher at the Finnish Environment Institute and its predecessors for four decades. His field of expertise comprises integrated research and modelling of hydrological, ecosystems and socio-economic processes in support of environmental protection and sustainable development. The second half of his career he has spent in the Baltic Sea area, Central Europe, the Mediterranean Sea, and the last decade in the Mekong Basin countries.
