You are invited  by Suomen Rauhanpuolustajat ( Finnish Peace Committee) to a press conference on the security and humanitarian situation in the Eastern Ukraine and the future of the implementation of the Minsk agreement with Alexander Hug and Oxana Chelysheva on Friday 19.5 at 1pm at Arkadia

Alexander Hug, Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, who will give a brief overview of the latest developments in eastern Ukraine, in particular, the security situation. Mr Hug will focus on compliance with security-related aspects of the Minsk agreements and how the SMM is contributing to reducing tensions and fostering peace, stability and security, and the challenges it faces in doing so.

Oxana Chelysheva, journalist & human rights activist, who will comment mainly on the humanitarian situation of the civilian population affected by the conflict. She has been visiting Eastern Ukraine regularly since the conflict began and also organised delivery of humanitarian aid to people affected by the conflict.

Press conference on the security and humanitarian situation in the Eastern Ukraine and the future of the implementation of the Minsk agreement with Alexander Hug and Oxana Chelysheva

 

On Sunday 23rd of April a monitor of the OSCE died and several other monitors were injured when their car hit a mine near Luhansk in eastern Ukraine. Since the operations of the OSCE mission in Donetsk and Luhansk regions has remained restricted.

According to the recent report of the International Committee of the Red Cross, since the beginning of the year, humanitarian situation has been deteriorating amid intensified hostilities in the conflict zone.

Alexander Hug will be visiting Finland 17.-20.5. and will be available for individual interviews in other occasions depending on his other commitments.
