From Genes to Population- An Introspective by Himanshu Chheda and Shabbeer Hassan from the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM)

Why, for some diseases, do a few people get sick while others don’t? Why are some diseases more prevalent in certain parts of the world than others? Where does the ‘Finnish Disease Heritage’ come from? Answers to these questions may lie in the DNA of people with diseases, and modern day molecular biology techniques have made it possible to answer some of these questions. Come join us to discuss advances in population genetics and how the unique genetic characteristics of Finland is helping us answer questions in the field.
