Maya Egashira
The Japanese violinist Maya Egashira has performed extensively around the world.
She served as the second concertmaster in Orquestra do Porto Casa da Musica in Portugal, while earlier she played in the Sinfonia Lahti, and Kuopio City Orchestra in Finland. She was invited as a guest concertmaster in orchestras in Finland, Sweden, Portugal and Japan.
Her recital in Nagoya in 2014 was selected as “notable concert of the month” in the music magazine “Ongaku-no Tomo”.
Since 2015, she has been invited to Maputo Classical Music Season as a soloist and she works now in Mozambique at Xiquitsi Project.
Her interest in chamber music, both as violinist and violist, extends over the regular repertoire to the contemporary era. She plays the viola in the Odysseus String Quartet and the contemporary ensemble “MusicaQuLacoza” based in Nagoya.
Maya Egashira holds a Master of Music (2008, highest honors) from the Sibelius Academy and the Bachelor’s degree from the Aichi University of Arts. She studied the violin with Yoko Seto, Michael Vaiman, Jozef Kopelman and Alexandre Vinnitski and the viola with Toby Hoffmann and Ron Ephrat. She participated master courses with P.Vernikov, G.Pauk, S.Minz, Alban Berg Quartet among others.
Akiko Yokoyama
The Japanese pianist Akiko Yokoyama is a native of Japan and has been living in Finland permanently for long time.
During her long career as a classical musician Akiko has performed in several different countries around the world – Japan, Korea, Finland among others – both as soloist, chamber musician and an accompanist as well.
Since Akiko won 3rd prize in Jyväskylä chamber music competition, she has performed in many different chamber music projects, most notably concert with Aloysius orchestra in South Korea that was broadcasted on South Korean TV and chamber music concert series in Helsinki. Akiko also provides the recording of her performances to be used in advertising videos of commercial companies.
Akiko’s musical interests include not only classical music, both traditional and contemporary, but they expand beyond the genre as well. In her performances Akiko Yokoyama plays not only traditional piano, but also a synthesizer that she performs with during festivals and special events. Akiko is currently working as piano teacher in one of piano schools in greater Helsinki area.
Akiko Yokoyama holds a Master of Music (2007, highest honors) from the Sibelius Academy and the Bachelor’s degree from the Toho Gakuen University of Music in Tokyo, Japan. Akiko has studied piano with Yasushi Hirose, Juhani Lagerspetz, Ilmo Ranta and studied chamber music with Ralf Gothoni, Paavo Pohjola, Marko Ylönen, Teemu Kupiainen. She has numerous times participated in master courses in different European countries, such as Kuhmo Music Festival, Savonlinna Music Camp, Piteå Music Course among others.
