My name is Outi.

I have spent a good part of my life doing things that might be considered to be some sort of artistic work, though I have a problem with calling myself an artist. I simply wake up every day and observe the world in my own way, then use my observations to create something beautiful, hoping to take part in the process of making this world a tiny bit nicer.

I love poetry, and recently I have used words as a big part of what I do. This is also the case with this particular little exhibition.

I also love lots of other things. I love music and I love food. I love books and all forms of storytelling. I love dogs, and all other living creatures, also the ones that are not always so easy to love. I ove the ocean, and mountains, and other things in which life is not so obvious.

I love the indescribable parts of life, the empty space between things we have words for.

My aim in life is to approach things with an open heart and with clear vision, with a childlike wonder, and to use as many of my senses as often as possible.

“SEHNSUCHT”

There is a word in German language that I once heard and was moved by. There is no perfect translation for it, but it means that melancholic longing for something that seems to be so near but still out of reach. Like being home and feeling homesick at the same time.

I can very much relate to this feeling, and so I decided to build little stories around it, and of these stories consist this little exhibition.

They are all moments that I have witnessed as a constantly growing human being, they are moments I consider to be somehow very relevant without knowing exactly why. In a way I feel like every one of them has taken me a step closer to the great mystery we have so many names for.
