“The south american contemporary
cello” A ritual instrument and a sound generator.

The main objective of this piece of work is to share some pieces for solo cello and cello with electroacoustic media composed by Argentinian, Chilean and Colombian composers over the last 20 years.

This is almost an unknown territory for people outside South America, that is why the intention of Sergio Castrillón is to show the value and originality of the south American contemporary violoncello around the world.

On this occasion in Helsinki, the audience will listen through the violoncello to a series of Andean landscapes and to the power of indigenous South American rituals blended with the noise that reflects the chaos of a new continent.
