In ‘Journey to Fairytale’ Tuomas Nikkanen will perform works by
Kuula, Satie, Debussy, Ravel, Musorgsky, Liszt and Granados that have been
 inspired by paintings and visual arts

Tuomas Nikkanen is Finnish pianist living in Hämeenlinna.
He studied in Sibelius Academy with Erik T.Tawaststjerna, Juhani Lagespetz and Liisa Pohjola and his studies also included composition lessons from Tapio Nevanlinna.

Nikkanen was awarded with the Sibelius birthplace medal for his “outstanding work as the interpreter of the the life work of Jean Sibelius”in 2016 by the Hämeenlinna Sibelius society, also In 2018 in the International Jean Sibelius festival in Turku, he was awarded with the Diploma of the Best Piano Performance.
He recorded in the Sibelius Birthplace in Hämeenlinna a Sibelius-cd in 2015. At the moment he is working with a complete recording of all the piano music and piano transcriptions of Toivo Kuula.

Nikkanen is the artistic director of the Iittala music festival.
