Jan Zwicky has published nine collections of poetry, including Songs for Relinquishing the Earth, which won Canada’s Governor General’s Award, Robinson’s Crossing, which won the Dorothy Livesay Prize, and, most recently, Forge, which was shortlisted for the Griffin Prize. Her books of philosophy include Alkibiades’ Love, Lyric Philosophy and Wisdom & Metaphor, which was also short-listed for the Governor General’s Award for nonfiction. These books argue that ecological crisis is fundamentally a problem arising out of a style of thinking, and develop lyric epistemology as an alternative. She has also published a short book of fiction, an epistolary fable, The Book of Frog.

Robert Bringhurst is a Canadian poet, linguist, and typographer. Both his Selected Poems and a collection of his lectures, The Tree of Meaning, are regarded as key texts of contemporary North American literature. He has translated extensively from Haida, Navajo, classical Greek, and Arabic. His study of Haida oral literature, A Story as Sharp as a Knife, was named Editor’s Choice book of the year by the Times of London. In typographic circles, he is known as the author of The Elements of Typographic Style, which is now in its fourth edition and has been translated into ten languages. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in June 2013.
