Thursday 26.5. at 6pm: Voluntary Work in Helsinki by Alexandra Ramsay & Henrietta Grönlund

Dear friend of Arkadia, You are warmly invited to Voluntary Work in Helsinki by Alexandra Ramsay and Henrietta Grönlund on Thursday 26.5 at 6pm. Why work voluntarily with promoting social welfare? How many people are involved today? How did this tradition start? Alexandra Ramsay is a teacher and a Doctor in Philosophy. Alexandra will offer the historical background to voluntary work. She will base herself the thesis she wrote on charity in Helsinki in the 19th century. Kansalaistominnanjohtaja Henrietta Grönlund, from Helsinkimissio, will discuss voluntary work today. This lecture is a result of the collaboration between Arbis and the bookshop. http://ec.europa.eu/citizenship/focus/focus840_en.htm http://www.helsinkimissio.fi/?sid=2 http://www.hel2.fi/arbis/english/index.htm The talk will be in English but questions will naturally be answered in Swedish, and also in Finnish. Warm regards, Ian  www.arkadiabookshop.fi Entrance is free and green tea will be served. A donation of €2 (or more!) is suggested and would be very welcome.
