You are invited to Finnish rarities for violin and piano – Sebastian Silén, violin, Martin Malmgren, piano, on Thursday 28.2 at 6pm at Arkadia (Nervanderinkatu 11).

Having dug through archives in search of forgotten gems of early Finnish repertoire for violin and piano, Sebastian Silén and Martin Malmgren present rarely-heard works by Fredrik Pacius and Robert Kajanus, as well as an early Suite by Sibelius which was not published until after his death. These works, which include transcriptions by Sebastian Silén and previously-unperformed pieces, will be recorded on CD later this year. Additionally, we also hear Prokofiev’s final piano sonata, an introspective and lyrical work.

Sebastian Silén and Martin Malmgren became acquainted in Gothenburg over a decade ago and have collaborated in numerous projects ever since. They are both members of the newly-started Helsinki Chamber Orchestra, which has its historical opening concert at Temppeliaukio Church on March 8th at 7 pm.
