Teea Aarnio
About a half year ago Teea and mandolin found each other. Though Teea had been singing her songs since early childhood, it was through a new instrument she found a new kind of joy in songwriting. During the past few months Teea has been giving birth to many new songs. Mandolin’s sound made her gather a new group to make music with.
This time Teea will perform solo with the mandolin. You’ll hear lots of new songs, and some stories relating to the process – both in
english and in finnish.
Teea Aarnio was born in a small town called Heinola on a hot summer day. As a child she almost lived at the theatre and she grew up loving (and working in different places doing) music, dance and theatre.
She moved away from her home town quite early and has after that moved almost as many times as the years she has lived.
Teea released her own published single “Avaa Silmäsi” 2004 and her EP “Unesta Tuttu” was complited 2009. She has been doing gigs for years, performing her own songs and also working as a freelancer. She is a member of a multiart group called MoTai and also is a member of a very playful band called Helsinki Soundpainting Ensemble.
Teea has performed her songs sometimes more electric, sometimes more acoustic, looking for new ways to make music. Six months ago Teea started playing mandolin and formed a new, more acoustic band, after that.
Teea won YleX’s and the movie 3 Simoa’s lyric competition and the song (music by Janne Huttunen) “Joojoomies” was published during the fall 2012.
Right now Teea lives in Helsinki, is very proud of her home town – is dancing again, and learning how to play the mandolin.
