The Salla Hakkola Trio is one of the most interesting newcomers to the Helsinki indie music scene. Releasing their debut album in spring 2013, the trio has gained notice with its unique instrumentation and highly original repertoire.

Featuring bassist Eero Seppä and drummer Touko Ruokolainen, the trio charts its own path through the mysterious borderlands of jazz, indie-pop, experimental folk and world music. Enhanced by three multi-genre musicians’ open-mindedness and virtuosity, Hakkola‘s songs and lyrics invite audiences to contemplate the absurdities of everyday life and the depths of human nature.

folkharpisti-säveltäjä-laulajan syksyllä 2011 perustama trio kartoittaa omia polkujaan kansanmusiikin, jazzin, indiefolkin ja
rytmimusiikin mystisessä ja kiehtovassa välimaastossa. Varusteinaan tutkimusmatkallaan triolla on ainutlaatuinen kokoonpano (Salla
Hakkola, folk-harppu ja laulu, Eero Seppä, basso ja Touko Ruokolainen, rummut) sekä kokoelma Hakkolan säveltämiä lauluja, joiden omaperäiset sanat johdattavat kuulijansa arkirealismin absurdiuteen ja ihmissielujen syvyyksiin.
