Dear friend of Arkadia,
You are invited to Molecular Medicine goes Art by the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) on Tuesday 29.4 at 6pm to Saturday 10.5 at Arkadia (Nervanderinkatu 11)
The Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) wishes to build a bridge between scientists and the general public. For that FIMM will organize this exhibition called Molecular Medicine goes Art that shows science, in particular molecular medicine, in the extraordinary view of art to raise people’s curiosity about science and improve communication between scientists and the metropolitan community.
Welcome!
Warm regards,
Ian

– Entrance is free but a donation of €3 (or more!) to fund the event is suggested and would be most welcome. If you have no loose change or coins we gladly accept payment via Visa Electron or Mastercard etc. !
Molecular Medicine scientists go Art
Maija Puhka is working as post-doctoral researcher in the Helsinki Urological Biobank and in Olli Kallioniemi´s research group (FIMM) building up exosome/microvesicle know-how primarily for urological cancers.
Katja Närhi is working post-doctoral researcher in Emmy Versuren’s research group (FIMM) studying the cell biological and biochemical properties of key lung cancer tumour suppressors.
William Hennah is Academy Research Fellow and group leader at FIMM.
The main aim of his group is to further the understanding of psychiatric disorders, principally schizophrenia, through the analysis of the genetic mechanisms that undoubtedly underlie them.
Evgeny Kulesskiy & Laura Turunen are working for the High Throughput Biomedicine Unit at FIMM. This Unit provides expertise in robotics, automation, cell-based and biochemical assay development plus the instrumentation, liquid handling systems, and siRNA/compound libraries necessary for screening.
Manuela Tumiati is a graduate student at FIMM studying the DNA repair gene RAD51C known to predispose to breast cancer.
Dmitrii Bychkov is currently working on his Master thesis about: “Drug Set Enrichment Analysis (DSEA): A Computational Approach to Identify Functional Drug Sets from High-Throughput Drug Testing” in Olli Kallioniemi´s research group (FIMM)
Anne Grote is working as post-doctoral researcher in Johan Lundins research group (FIMM) exploring methods for computerized quantification and segmentation of digitized tumour samples.
Tero Hiekkalinna is working as post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Chronic Disease Prevention (National Institute for Health and Welfare) focusing on the development of user friendly statistical and simulation tools for analysis and interpretation of complex trait genetics
Arjan van Adrichem is a graduate student at FIMM studying the MKLP1/MgcRacGAP/Ect2 complex as a regulator of invasiveness and malignancy.
Susanne Hultsch is a research assistant in Olli Kallioniemi´s research group (FIMM) studying molecular mechanism of drug resistance in endocrine-related cancers
