VISIONS by Hayk Svajian

A book of visual poetry, Visions is an innovative book of visual poems that draws its inspiration from multiple disciplines. Its
literary inspiration comes from Eastern philosophies that emphasize the sacredness of the “here and now”. These “Visions” are not visions of
metaphysical realities but are of the reality we live in.

•The poster poems of Dadists, to express humor and irreverence towards seriousness in art.
•Parole in liberta (Words in freedom) of Italian Futurists.
•Poems to be read in a glance of Russian Futurism.
•The calligrammes of Guillaume Apollinaire.
•Literature as games (OuLipo).
•Letters used solely as raw material for visual art.
•Minimalism in visual arts, as well as literature.
•The mesostics of John Cage.

The cumulative influence of all these movements and their methods is present in these Visions. In Visions, an attempt has been made to create a fusion of the methods and intentions of these pioneers of 20th century experimental literature. The overall concept of this collection is to present the world around us poetically and visually.

The author of this poetry collection is a freelance poet specializing in unorthodox styles of poetry. He lives in Los Angeles, USA. His second collection of visual poems titled Reveries is due out from Matian Press in August of this year.
