Questions about Afghanistan What is it like to serve in a civilian crisis management mission in Afghanistan as a civilian expert? What kinds of challenges a mission like the EUPOL AFG is tend to face in an environment where the standards of police services, Rule of Law, and Human Rights differ significantly of those prevalent in Europe? Is it feasible and reasonable to think that a safe and secure Afghan society can be achieved through any international engagement in Afghanistan? This time EUPOL Legal Adviser Jari Paajala is accompanied by General Wakeel Akbari, the Head of the Afghan National Police (ANP) Anti-Corruption Unit. General Wakeel, highly educated Afghan police officer, is one of the 23 Afghan participants attending the Advanced Police-Prosecutor Coordination Training Program implemented by the CMC Finland and EUPOL in Finland this February. General Wakeel has kindly promised to let the audience know how he sees the security situation in Afghanistan right now. Moreover, he tells you what would be the most effective way to develop the competence of the Afghan security authorities. He also openly describes his views on the efforts of the international community rendered in re-building of the Rule of Law in Afghanistan.
