Black and white: A celebration of contrasts by The Quiet Calls and Joel Willans

Perhaps more than any other country, Finland is a country of extremes, and no more so than in the winter. The dark days against the snowy white. The happiness at Christmas compared with the wistfulness at another year passing. The chill in the air, contrasted with the warmth of the sauna.

To this celebrate this extreme way of life, Arkadia International Bookshop plays host to an evening of stories and songs from Helsinki band The Quiet Calls and Brit author Joel Willans.

The Quiet Calls play dreamy tunes about dark nights out in the city, lazy days in the sun and the ying and yang of women. British author, Joel Willans reads stories of love and loss, happiness and despair from his new collection Spellbound: Stories of women’s magic over men.

Together they promise a unique evening celebrating the contrasts that make life so amazing.
