Text by Katherine Midgley

I will be showing a 30 minute film entitled ‘Flying in Circles until it catches itself, then laying a fresh version on top’, which I made earlier this year.

The film focuses on the tensions between public and private space in London, and the powerful vested interests involved in keeping those tensions alive. One such power is Lend Lease, a multinational property development company which has insidiously asserted its presence worldwide.

The film also contains such disparate elements as a fight between an ostrich and a vulture, the cynical use of blossom trees as ‘instant beautifiers’ by London councils and the character of the Black Prince, a menacing figure who reappears throughout the film.

I will introduce the film and explain its London context, and after the screening, there will be a question and answer session.

Everyone is welcome!
