Dear friend of Arkadia,
You are invited to ‘What Lies Behind Illusions’ by evolutionary biologist Sedeer El-Showk on Wednesday 5.6 at 6pm at Arkadia (Nervanderinkatu 11)
How do illusions work? Why are humans so easily fooled, even though we have a massive brain and one of the most advanced visual systems on
the planet? Are illusions just cases where our visual system gets it wrong?
Evolutionary biologist Sedeer El-Showk will try to tackle some of these questions by presenting a series of entertaining (or infuriating) optical illusions and explaining a bit about how they work.
The talk will be in English and aimed at non-scientists, though everyone is welcome.
Warm regards,
Ian
